After the storms & the cold spell that followed passed through my area my squash's growth went to hell. Each day I've been getting only between 1/2" to 1" a day on circumference growth ( it now goes 100" in circ.) Well on Friday I could see that all was not well so I went to my local co-op & got a 50# bag of 0-0-62. I mixed up 4 lbs & spread around the stump & spread another 4 lbs around the whole plant. I knew I wouldn't start seeing anything until at least Sunday at the earliest ( usually when I fertilize I see the results on the 2nd to 3rd day) Well being the worrier that I am I've been measuring daily at 7pm. Last night it went 98 1/2" around. So far today ( 12pm) it goes 100" & I always start picking up more growth after 5 pm for some reason so I'm hoping for a 2" gain in circ for the day. I'm posting this because I've been reading alot about everyone having problems since the cold snap. And I wanted to let you know what "might" have helped me out.

Good to see ya on the list Darryl, I was thinking about calling you to see if the same thing was happening to you. The list probably doesn't know but Darryl had the misfortune of going to school with me, for that the guy deserves a medal & a LARGE pumpkin....LOL

Hi Paul, Be careful this time of year with cold snaps and trying to compensate for with fertilizer for slow growth! I have found the (hard way)That when the fair weather returns the pumpkins want to take off, and if there is too much "energy/food" they seem to split! Don't blow em up like my pal Stan(Grin)....... Best of luck, Gerry Gadberry

I'm still using TRIPLE 12 mixture should I switch to a high back number or wait another week or so?
