This newcomer is getting really frustrated with my pumpkin not growing. My vine looks great, giving it plenty of 15-15-15 (3-4 gallons a week) and fish & seaweed solution and water, shading etc, tons of organic matter in the soil etc. and the thing just won't grow. It was pollinated 7/26 and still weighs about 1 lb. Maybe I have a bum seed - I bought a package from Johnny's Seeds. Any suggestions on how to get some weight on this scrawny thing?

The pollination may not have taken properly. By now, you should be able to see some very noticable growth if it wasn't aborting. My advice is to pollinate some more!

how much rain are you getting a week? how much are you watering your plants? your patch needs at least a inch of water per week

Its got to be an unpollinated fruit. Its not going to grow any more, its just going to shrivel up. Just keep pollinating the female flowers with the male flowers until one takes, you'll know when it does.

If the female pumpkin is not enlarging by day five, it has not "taken" the pollination process. Cull it, and pollinate another down the main.
