I've noticed something a few times this year. Each time we get a severe storm I get very little growth the following day & the day after that it picks back up. Is it just a freak thing in my patches or has anyone's pumpkins done the same thing also.
By the way it happens to my tomatoes also ( my best tomatoe so far goes 16" in circ. & 7" from one end to the other)

It may be too early to tell but after 13 days of 95 degrees or higher with heat indices of 100-110 I had an almost no-growth day once the cold front passed. Prior to that during the 13 day period I gained 148 pounds or an average of 12 pounds per day with several 17 pounds per day gains. The next several evenings (lowes around 50) will determine if my gains are a mere memory. The grass is always greener, when it's warm you wish for cool...etc. Such is the life of neurotic growers.

we had northwest wind,20 to 30 knots today, much cooler and the pumpkin gained three inches ,instead of the 4 to 5 it had been gaining.temp and wind much different today.

Just remember us up here in the Pacific Northwest. We have averaged highs of about 71° for the last two weeks! This is supposed to be the HOTTEST time of the year. August is "make or break" month up here! If you do not gain 600 lbs, you are in deep "doo-doo"! Only four weeks to our first weigh-off!

Oh BTW, the Good Lord protected my patch last night as a thunder storm with large and prolific hail just missed my patch by one mile. I am counting my blessings!

Stan, I prayed for the good Lord to strike down your EVIL pumpkin patchs. I bet you threw in a couple "Forgive me Fathers" that allowed your patches to be spared. I am kinda close to enlightenment, and I hope to meet you for a showdown someday. Actually if anyone is reading this Stan is a very fine fellow, I just want to whoop him so as to yank his chain alittle...
