I keep reading that I can expect my AG to grow at a rate of upwards of 70lbs per week. At what point in the life cycle does it start to grow at that rate? I only have one pumpkin going now and while it has gotten much bigger since pollination (7/26), it has still grown only a few ounces. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=5425
Thanks.

Anyone ever have the dream that you are being chased by a big pumpkin and just can't get away? How about the one where you realize you go to your patch in your pajamas?

Maineiac, The rate of growth is directly related to the conditions in wich the specimine is grown in, and growerers techniques, such as soil fertility, water, sunlight and environment, (weeds, pruning, fertilizitaion, CATS, ect). If you do not provide optimum conditions you will never get 70# per week. Do you bury all vines, pull all weeds, pinch and prune your plants for optimal fruit production, and most probablably the main ingredent.... Hand pollinate and secure the crosses????? Best of luck to you and keep trying you will reap what you sow.. Gerry Gadberry
