Anybody ever heard of giving the pumpking a gallon of whole milk a week, right on the mound and roots? My grandmother told me this some time back and I just remembered? Very interesting if the neighbors are watching??

I've heard stories of people that have done it, but I have never actually spoken with anyone who really tried it. My guess is, someone thought it would help, mentioned it, the rumor spread and the rest is history.

I could be wrong however. Has anyone actually done this????

I have read some past post about milk. This seems to be a touchy subject. I retract all said about milk for pumpkins.

I always hear it from someone who "knows" someone who did it. Never from anyone that has actually tried it with any success.

some of the old farmers around here have given their pumpkin milk to grow big,,,but they are field pumpkins,,,i know one guy who gets free outdated milk from a company (50-100gal aweek) and then puts it into a sprayer and sprays the field once or twice a week,,,he gets good results,,,but remember that they are filed pumpkins,,,jack-o-lanters pumpkins,,,our seeds have been enhanced,,,genes have been modified and i don't think they could take the milk,,,but ask any famrer around here and they swear by it,,,i don't use it myself,,,but it makes you wonder,,,

Yo Jared,
Its all a load of crap...I've tried everything that people have swore by..milk.....beer....sugar..you name it. Have you smelt the patch after a few days of warm weather with sour milk..get plenty of flies thats about all.
