For all of you guys in the south, get this, our HIGH today is only going to be 9 celcius, which is only 47 degrees F. The low is expected to drop below 40 tonight. How's a guy supposed to grow a biggie in this. Could some one please send a bit of warm weather here?

I don't know what's going on. It hit 90 here just over a week ago, and now, just 3 hours west of here, they're calling for snow!!! This is crazy.

Just keep it there Smitty, it's too early for those types of temperatures and I know how you Albertians like to send your weather our way. We're suppose to cool down to the low-mid twenties over the weekend (low-mid 70's F). As long as the sun keeps shinning things shouldn't slow down too much.

Looks like Smoky Lake will be easy pick'ins at the way off this year.
Sorry Smitty I feel for ya, just make sure you keep "Charlotte" from freezing.

LOL, thanks Ernie! I'll do what I can for Charlotte!
Heads up in Manitoba. Usually, you get our bad weather in a day or 2!

'bout time you poked your head out Darby, got to keep an eye on you, that way when I show up at the weigh-off you don't surprise me with 900+lb punkin.
As for me??? Well lets just say I got a bad case of foot in mouth disease. After that last post we got hit with 6C (40F) night temps.
You guys up by Edmonton can come get your weather any time, and while your at it bring some rain and a six pack with a steak lightly seasoned. Thnks.

I feel for you Smitty. I'm not sure what the long term effects a bad cold snap in mid season might have on a pumpkin.
I think I'll wait before celebrating but so far it looks like the worst of the cold weather will miss us here in S. Manitoba. They are still calling for highs to be in the low 20's C with lows around 10 C. We did get about 12mm of rain last night when the cooler air arrived and the sun is actually shinning today - so far. Things are supposed to get back to the high 20's to low 30's by Monday - I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We've been near 100 each day this week West of Philadelphia and the 'excessive heat warning' continues tomorrow as well. I'll make a deal with you. Since I'm a meteorologist and a pumpkin guy like you, I'll send you some warm weather if you send us some precipitation!!! No measurable rain in close to a month!, with temps. in 95-100F levels and high humidity it is a different kind of challenge. OR: Buy a summer house in the championship pumpkin belt and not have to worry about 40's until October. Sorry, not much help.

I just can't even imagine 40 or 30 degree temps in July and August! I spent this afternoon putting up some "wind breaks" around my patch. We are under tropical storm warnings on the coast here. I think i'm gonna have more problems with mother nature this year than with insects.
