Try to get as much slack in the vine by cutting the tap roots in front and behind the fruit

hey Pappy will the fruit also grow in towards the vine..or just up, out and back..

Yes lobsta it grows everywhere. Keep slack on the vine so you can manipulate your fruit to keep stress off the stem.

After a couple hundred pounds you may wanna slide the pkn back a bit...as its likely the fruit will expand forward with growth also.....G

thanks pappy thanks G..i can't believe how fast these pumpkins[pumpkin,only have the one] can grow.i'm constantly checking on it and the change is incredible..i curved the vine for the pollination up above this one,but it did'nt take,so -moby-is a little close to the vine..i can see that the next few weeks are gonna be a blast..

thanks chuck..i feel bad for ya,i hope you figure out whats going on in your patch..alls i can say is thank goodness i've got something growing out in the back yard..between time spent and the money spent,i'm gonna need one big pumpkin to pull myself thru this..now i'm going to a lake to get water for the beast..400 gals per trip..we've been pumping 150 gallons a day and its still thirsty..

That's why I admire you Chuck. You have hard luck but still keep your wonderful sense of humor and trying to help and encourage other folks to grow the biggest fruit they can. I salute you and wish you the best of luck! Sincerely, Brian
