Im growing only squash this year --the 455 Andrews and the 846Calai...both are squash plants and both produced squash over 900lbs in the last two years.(hee-hee, try and argue, just try ! ) The 846 is a bust...blew both mains...and 11 sidevine tips and got hit hard with a mystery leaf disorder July 3.Fruit are slow and I left too many on too long.Guilty as charged. The 455 is awesome...best plant at this date ever in my patch...fruit going ok too (except for a blossom rot problem that will likely take the fruit). Its the only fruit on the plant and its terminated....so if it goes I'm out of the 455 contest (and evrything else) early. Its between 200-300lbs right now and less than 25 days old.....bummer. Hows everyone else's 455?..........G

Sorry about the 846. But leaves more room for your 455 right? I read your post where you cut the blossom end and dusted, is that your 300#er? Good luck G!!

Yo Brian, Yeah I have the plant..all 33' main and more of it. But I cannot get a fruit to grow..not just this plant but all of them. But I do have one fruit starting on another plant so there is a chance yet that I can get one to grow on this one. Have a few 455.4 females pollinated..just waiting for them to take off.

To dry the seeds I spread them out on a window screen i glommed from the trash....place the seeds in a single layer on the screen, place 4 small flowerpots/peatpots under the four corners of the screen so its a few inches above the table....and blow a fan on them. Mix'm up and spread them out in a day...again a single layer.....mix'm up after a few more days....in a couple weeks they're dry enough to be peeling the clear film that you find around them....dry an additional 2 weeks to make sure....then give them to anyone who makes eye contact with you, on purpose or not. Dont dry them in a shed or a cellar with mice....raccoons, birds, etc.......G
