I have a question on measuring the circumfrance of my pumpkin. It is getting large shoulders on each side of the stem. If I put the measuring tape around the pumpkin tight, it causes the tape go from shoulder to shoulder and lose contact with the pumpkin by the stem. The bigger it gets, the more it is off the pumpkin. What is the best way to get an accurate measurement, keeping the measuring tape tight and losing contact with the pumpkin or keeping the tape in contact with the pumpkin at all times including by the stem? Thanks, Jim

Yes, the tape will lose contact with the pumpkin surface in places. The OTT method will give you a closer estimate to the pumpkins real weight. Remember, ESTIMATE is the key word!!

As the fruit grows, it gets increasingly more difficult to measure, always helps to have "another hand". Just watch that those belt buckles and jewelry don't scratch up your pumpkin when you're " hugging it!"
