This is kind of a poll for everyone and a question. It probably belongs in Watering and Fertilizer but I thought I may get a few more responses here. I realized a few days ago that I was way short in my watering regiment. I recalculated and found I need to be putting on between 130 and 175 gals. a day to be up at 1 1/2" - 2" a week. My question to everyone, out of curiousity and for learning purposes, is..how do you guys apply that much water? In other words, do you use a sprinkler or do you mix it up with some by hand, some by misters and some by sprinklers.. I got one of those oscillating sprinklers that puts out 100 gals in 30 min on my stream pump system. I figure once or twice a day with this rig on a timer and I'm there. I'm kinda worried about blowing the babies up but I need to increase my gains per day. Thought it would be interesting to see how everyone goes about their watering regiment

Stunner, We're always experimenting, pushing the envelope ! I'm trying drip irrigation this season, and it's too early to tell you anything definitive. Water a little everyday here and have approx 4" shredded leaves/gras clipping/compost mulch over entire patch to keep thing moist and as weed free as possible. Happy with results so far !

While not ideal, I intalled a traditional garden hose along each row of plants. I drilled a 1/4" hole at the base of each plant and ran the hoses out of the garden. When I water I am guaranteed to water the base plant each and ever time and any run off is a bonus. We are in an extreme drought here in SE Pa. and on well water so large volumes for secondary vines or others wait for rain. Thus far have one at 101 pounds and several others approaching that, not too bad for a conservative watering approach.

Were watering with a hose and ball valve hooks up to a small watering manifold and we have a garden hose run to each stump. And in the spring I took these pipes with holes on one side. The size is 3"x 2' and layed at angle with end flush with soil. And we have soaker hoses buried as well 2 or 3 feet deep.I let water hose run for 2hrs every other day and also overhead watering daily.Mike
