I'm a morning show guy at a radio station here in Edmonton. We're about to start running a contest where the listeners will call in to help me name my pumpkin. Any ideas as to what prize we could give out?

Sounds like a weather man to me, 6:30, 7:00 etc...
They ain't to popular around these parts, but hey somebody has to do it. (LOL)

Well if'in yer go'in to do that, ya should do it up right.

1) Get Don's books I & II.

2) Get some good seed, (NOT from Darby, LOL again) Pappy is probably da man, he's got a heart of gold. But then again everyone else on this fine website does too from what I've seen. (Yes you to Darby)

3) Take'em with ya to Smoky Lake for weigh-off day. (ya might even be able to talk yer boss into pay'in for it, as well as pay'in you for work'in.)

Now ya have some one hooked and introduced to growing Giant Punkins, plus it gives me and Darby one more person to throw jabbs at.

Oh ya one more thing, why don't ya throw in one of those nifty coffee mugs you guys are always try'in to pawn off on people...

Is this were ya enter to name that pumpkin for CKER.

My suggestion is "Charlotte" you know from Charlotte's Web the kids movie.

It always brought tears to my eyes when she died in the stall at the fair where Wilbour won a prize for being "Some Pig".

Hey, Ernie I'm gonna donate a cull (if I get any) to the cause! Here's my proposal: At the wigh-off we can have a pumpkin tossing contest!!! to see how far you can toss one of these babies! Stipulation is they have to be at least 50 pounds.
Just think of it as like the Highland games when they toss the caber or do the hammer throw! 'Cept it for punkin lovers! LOL LMAO We can have a tomato throwing contest too!

I can wait for seeds Pappy, that would be great. Good advice Ernie, I don't think we have any coffee mugs laying around right now, but I'm sure I could find a tee shirt or something. That's to funny, I've got a buddy named Cameron that works mornings on CHAB 800 used to be CHAB Country 800 but then they started an fm station Country 100 at 100.7

I as well used to drive limo for a company that drove for all the stations trips, contests, concerts etc... was a great blast met alot of country stars and got drunk way to much at places like Craven when I was running security for the limo's not driving. I'll bring ya one of the 2 dozen coffee mugs I've gotten over the years to Smoky Lake, then ya can use it at work. (LOL)

I think's Smitty, You and me are going to have to show Smoky Lake what real punkin growers are like, and what Western Canehdians can grow, should be a blast, punkin toss, Tomato throwing and don't forget we are go'in to have to cut the top off one of those punkins and fill it with beer, put the tap near da bottom.

But if the cops show up, I don't know either of ya.

Pumpkins is fun.!!!! I just thought of another interesting twist on the pumpkin toss.... I wonder if the Romans ever thought of storming the walls of cities by launching pumpkins from a catapult.... ?? LMAO The next secret weapon...pumpkins orbiting the earth as satellites. (pumpnicks)

The prize could be an all expense paid trip to South Delaware in the fall to see the annual "Pumpkin Chunkin" Contest. Predictions are tossing a bowling ball size fruit 1 miled this year (see web site). Can't think of a better way to spend a weekend. The tail-gating is supposed to be as top-notch as S. Delaware can offer.
