Snake Oil

Pumpkintown, SC

I need some help with this one! On my best fruit(many attributes) which is 13 days old, and growing over 4 inches per day, I left the adjacent leaf on too long and it has injured the fruit. I have an indentation about 4 inches long and about 1/4-1/2 inch deep at its deepest point. It is in the shape of the leaf stem that made it. Obviously I am wondering whether this will fill in and be alright or scab over(much like Godzilla) and eventually split. I guess I've gotten slack to have let this happen. I've had other pumpkins get injured and they have all scabbed over and been fine. Never have I had an injury though, on one of my AGs. I'm hoping that since it is more of a compression than a true injury(cut), it will fill itself in over time, especially since the fruit is still so young and tender. Can someone who has ridden one of these scarred AGs out tell me your experiences with the wound, scar etc. Thanx for your input:^>

mix some captan or benlate with a small amount of water till it's the consistency of thick paint then apply.this will dry the area quickly and stop disease from entering the pumpkin. It shouldnt split as long as is not as bad as godzilla but who knows??? GOOD LUCK!!!!

Caton, I sprayed the area with 10% bleach/water to keep the bacteria out while at the same time keeping the flesh soft in an attempt to let it fill itself out over time. My thinking is that if I dry that area out with Captan it may induce a scare which may later crack open. Whatdoyouthink? Thanx
