On my #1 main vine around the 7' mark there was a secondary vine growing vertically, straight up and down, from the node. I let it reach about 20" high before I pruned it off. I wonder if there is an anti-gravity machine somewhere in my patch!!! Ernie, do you know any thing about this??? LOL. All the other vines are running horizontal.

Got one here too, a little further out on the vine. Trying to bring it back down to earth before giving up hope and whacking it off. Went unnoticed awhile cuz woodchucks had altered my perfect x-mas tree pruning style and I was going insane for a couple days...whew...back to as normal as it gets !!!

Hey G, I'd normally prune away problem growing vines, but I lost so many leaves to the woodchuck bro's I'm trying to hold onto whatever I can salvage from here on out !

Vertical vines??? You guys wasting good Viagra on your plants? Ultimately it's all about taking good care of the patch I guess. Ground Control to Major Tom...1 oz fishing sinker and a twisty tie half way out should bring it down to earth gently.
