for some reason i was just wondering how old all of you are(not that it matters).any time your questioning or replying i try to picture how old you all are but i cant exept for the pics.I just turned 22.a year ago I quiet smokeing so i'd have more years of AG growing(you could say that ag's saved my life?) on another note my 700+ squash plant has a couple of leaves that are 33 inches WIDE!!!I took some pic's with my 35mm,I wish i could post them.none of my other plants have leaves like this. One thing that I was thinking is this plant dosent get eaven close to full sun(I'm talking like 5 hours)so I think the plant adapted to the low light by growing monster leaves the fruit that I have set on it is at 142"OTT 15 days after it set.so the lack of light sherly hasnt slowed growth.???

I'm 45.....got started in this hobby last year on a challenge to a pumpkin growing contest from my father-in law....kicked his butt too!
I only grew a 102 pounder last year, but had a blast with it.

caton..... Light is actually a growth inhibitor....thats why you see plants lean towards the light, like any ordinary house plant...the back side of the plant is growing faster than the side with sun. Something to do with light inhibiting some growth chemical/hormone in the plant. That's part of the reason for the large leaves on your squash plant. i would happen to think those larger leaves can produce more energy and food in those 5 hours of sunlight, than a plant with smaller leaves and the same 5 hours of light....doesnt mean bigger leaves are better....the more sunlight you can get, the better off you are.

I am 19....i have been growing pumpkins since i was 11 or 12, funny thing..... i cant remember exactly when i started.....anyways, grow a big fruit, whatever color, and I hope to see it at the weighoff. Best of luck!

36...Second year grower. But this is my first year with quality seeds, prime location and a GREAT source of info. Last year I tried growing a bunch of veggies in the garden (24 x 50') including my AG's...This year I moved all that other stuff OUT HERE!!! and gave the entire 24 x 50 to the AG's. Things look much better...Chris

I'm 32. This is my 3rd year gardening, 2nd year growing pumpkins and first growing AGs. I'm obsessed with my 4 plants, and surprised that my wife puts up with me.
I was lucky to hook up w/ my neighbor as he gave me the seed.
I'm looking forward to next year already, as the new patch will take up half the back lawn. Cheers - Ceis
