Would there be any benefit by removing the tarp over Fatback during dry days? More air circulation etc?

Last year, I found that it is best to keep the pumpkin as cool as possible. This minimizes that chance for "rot". Perhaps "Fatback" would like a fan blowing on him in the heat of the day.

the tarps also act like sun glasses to keep the pumpkins skin from aging - hard and tough. but i have heard some talk that you want to do that at the end of the season- that the harder outside helps to increase weight... just a theory i heard out there.

If the exterior becomes too hard, it is more difficult for the pumpkin to grow. Just another opinion.....
Stan PS. I want my "Baby" to have young looking skin!

Do orange tarps help stimulate the growth and color of a pumpkin or a squash or is this just a myth?
