I found holes in the ground beside the stump on all three of my three pumpkin plants in my lower garden. They go right under the stump. They look like mole holes how do I get rid of them if its moles and if its not moles does any one have any idea what it could be. four years ago I had a plant die in the same area. It just wilted when I pulled the plant it had holes that looked like moles all around the stump. I assumed the plant died from what ever made the holes. any advice or opinions please respond. thanks quinn.

If its moles? My guess is you have grubs in your garden. Voles will also bore holes. With the moles you normally will not see an opening. Grub-ex will get rid your grubs, and it is systemic, takes care of Svb's too. Now a vole you have to trap or poison like a mouse. They tunnel a lot and cause extensive damage to your garden. Good luck. I battle moles yearly.

quinn,

I agree with Shannon. Moles spend most of their life underground, and primarily eat mostly insects and grubs, and the occasional worm. Sounds like you may have voles or meadow mice. I place several containers around the plants with Rodex, the containers keep it from getting wet. It's rather pricey, but will eliminate those voles/mice, and even works on bigger critters like possums!
