Hey John D....In your diary entry #28, I noticed that your patch looks pretty close to a road....are ya gonna show off a BIG pumpkin later, or am I way off base, and it's just a black topped driveway?
You can see my patch from the road here, but I have an 18ft cargo trailer, and my truck camper blocking the view somewhat....dont want any neighborhood punks to see any pumpkins I have growing later for fear they will....well, you know? ....hahahahaha ( your plants look great!)

cuzbiker, thats a good stratagy, I live (for now) across from a school, 11 acre park and skate park. Lots of punks in my hood, I found a great deterant to tresspassers though. I planted a ton of ornimental sunflowers all around the patch and the bees love them. Now I don't know what kind of bee's ya all have around your place but these bee's are super protective of their sunflower heads I have heard a few yelps but no pumpkin damage. Actually most kids around here are facinated with the giant pumpkins and would beat the tar out of anykid wanting to damage them. They like the elaborate Halloween displays abd treats...:)

Yeah, its by the road. The road is near a school, and I did get vandalized once already (see my 2000 diary).

Last year I had giant sunflowers out around the perimiter of the patch. This year I didn't get a chance to plant anything. Laziness is a terrible thing!

I hope for the best, most people like them and keep an eye out for me.
