Both my plants are growing strong and look healthy but my female flowers never open. Each would be blossom has a pumpkin behind it,but flowers seem to go from green to yellow and then just die.I should note that there has been plenty of male blossoms. What am I doing wrong?Too much fertilizer or not enough?Confused!!

It could be the ratio of the fertilizer, I use a bloom buster when my female don't open, and they then tend to open fairly soon after that, hopes this helps. Steve

It could be that your plant isn't ready yet. So far this year the first 1-3 females have rotted off and after that they start setting. Tom

Thanks to everyone for the advice.I've been using fish and seaweed as a fertilizer once a week along with 20-20-20.In the begining of the season I used a 15-30-15.Last year I nuked my plants with too much nitrogen so I backed off this year(no pumpkins just a monster plant).

Hey GS..Now you got me wondering. I did the same thing last year monster vine no pumpkins, I wonder if we are over doing the nitrogen depravation. I was using fish/seaweed and granular kelp with 15-30-15. Plant looked good. I just switched to 20-20-20 but the weather was warm and the buds just wouldn't grow more then an inch sit there for a week and wilt away..Does this sound familiar...

Hey alexdad, your story sounds like I could have wrote it!This is my second year trying so I'm hopefully gonna learn from last years mistakes.Last year I had 2 plants with about 35' mains and not one pumpkin, they all aborted.I checked the patch today and I've got some new buds that look better than anything I've had this season.Tommorow's mission:Find Monster Bloom.
