A few of my chickens have been doing bug control aound my yard, and in the pumpkin patch . I have not seen one cucumber beetle, for that matter any bugs except for an occasional bee.There is no damage to the plants other than a little sratching around the roots. There has been no need for spray.As a matter of fact , they probably get a little extra fertilizer.

Sounds great for no bugs but you might want to keep the chickens out of the patch once the pumpkins come in. They will dine on it like candy...Tom

Fairfield has a very healthy population of squash vine borers. I learned that lesson the hard way. David

Cool I love chickens! Cover your pumpkin with a little "Hut" and a tarp or something, and let the chickens have at the pests!
