Wondering if most growers prune off the tendrils or leave them on the vine?

I bury most of them to hold the plant down, I also use them to tie my flowers closed, still the plant uses them to hold its tips up and to strangle weeds. Nothing in nature is wasted motion...

i sorta thought that they also provided some protection from wind, holding the plant to weeds etc that hold it to the ground keeping it from flying off in the wind, until the tap roots form, then the tendrils tend to wilt off.
