What do you guys & gals use to help you're newly set fruit with the heat . I have seen one idea in the how to grow giants book .but i know we have a bunch of creative growers out there . I would like to know what to use and what would keep my little girl from aborting off .knock on wood / none have yet ,but we are going to be getting a hot week this week . All you're input would be very helpful . thank you !!

I´ve prepared some PVC shades (only on top, related to the direction of the sun) and cheap battery operated car ventilators. Place the ventilator somewhere north from the fruit, it will blow some cool air - and the heat away.
Just an idea, can´t test it - we´re back in the 20´ies....)

Ice is a great idea,If this heat keeps up and i have to pollinate,i will set two bags one on each side of the flower, about 4" away ,in addition to a shade tarp.I saw Don Eisenhour use a laundry basket once(either round or square)to shade, just cut out a couple sections for the vine and place over the flower.hope this helped.John

Hoppy, our temps here are hovering at or above 100. I'm using a cheap styrofoam cooler with a couple of frozen water bottles tommorrow morning. I hope it does the trick.

I'm doing something similar to Kenny. It should be in my diary later today. First year I've tried it so I can't tell yet how things will turn out.

What's the minimun temp. to ensure pollenation? and what's the optimum range? Temps here have been as low as 7C (45F) in the AM but seeing my plants won't be flowering for a couple of weeks yet, I just thought I'd be prepared. Other than a lot of gusty winds, conditions have been excellent with daytime temps in the 25C (77)range.
