How long should a stem be on a new pumpkin so no stress comes from it later? What is the shortest length in inches of a stem that can be grown ok without major problems if the pumpkin is set correctly and the vine trained away? Thanks, Jim

My 875(Est.)had a one inch stem!!!!!! Talk about "sweatin' bullets"!!

that's a subject related to genetics i've grown a 572 and a 652 with stems of 4 in. if they would have gotten bigger vine stress could have affected final weights it's a crap shoot best of luck
