Can anyone tell me a good brand name product that contains Captan? Is any one with the additive good or is there one better than the other? I'm going out this weekend for supplies and it seems at some point I'll probably need some for a crack or stem split or something. Just want to get a hold of some before I need to so no need to run around later.

The can I have just says Captan on it.

I'd just go to you're local have it all nursery store and
ask someone there for Captan.

Captan is a very common ingredient in many of the "homeowner style" dusts you can get at K-mart etc. I believe what you intend to do when you "dust" or "paste" is to apply something to absorb the wet, or plug a whole/crack. The fact its a fungiside is great because it will prevent fungus if its a crack or whole, and kill it if its a mushy spot started by fungus. If you absorb the moisture and get it dry, the desired environment for a fungus is gone. These "homeowner dusts" also contain insectisides...that helps prevent bugs from zooming in for a sweet treat of fresh exposed pumpkin flesh or ooze.The often contain Captan, AND sulfer...and a few different insectisides...for a shotgun effect like Niquil (sp?)for runny nose,fever,aches/pains,cough,scratchy throat,etc....the key though is to dry and seal, and make it unattractive to pests and fungus. Bonide has a product line that includes a Tomato dust, a rose dust etc that will work....remember to use gloves and dont get any in your eyes or touch your eyes before washing.....G

I got mine from CENEX (local farmers co-op) the can says "CAPTAN 50% WP", It's made by Hi-Yield and comes in a red and yellow canister.
