The neighbors across the street had there lawn sprayed. It had a broad leaf killer in it. It was a windy day and I got drift from it. My 924 rose got hit hard. The leaves are starting to deform, especially on the new growth. My 945 van got hit but not as bad. I'm afraid I'm going to lose my rose and possibly my van.
HELP!! Is there anything I can do to try to save my plants? Please, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like what happened to Rocky Rockwell last year.....http://www.pgpga.com/2001UPDATE.HTM. He may have some ideas.

here's an idea, go across the street and bash the guys head open with a stick.

I get pissed when stuff like that happens. My theory is they want revenge for the manure.

What gets me mad about the whole thing is that when a commercial lawn care service is spraying herbicides or insecticides, they are by law not suppose to spray when wind is excessive. The day they sprayed, the wind was about 15-25 mph. Yes, I'm pissed, won't help my plants but maybe some good advise might help!

Ken,
If that happened to me I would go after the lawn care business to recoop my costs of the patch back for that year. Just my 2 cents, but they suffer your patch cost, and you suffer loosing your patch, seems like a fair trade off. This is of course if your plants dont recover. It sounds like you have 2D4 or whatever they call it poisioning for your plants. From what I remember, you cant do anything about it. Maybe try and water the heck out of the plants to wash it off, and out of the soil?

Worse yet...is the fact who ever is outside would be breathing that stuff in...family, pets...Not a good thing and those guys will be in your hood for a few more application this year...Chris

Hey Kenny, Since you don't know what they sprayed and most of it has a two hour take effect time it's probably to late. A healthy plant may survive the first attack but that two week follow up will wrap it up tight. Rinse it off good and don't over water. Most of that is traveling systemically to the roots and wants to turn them to mush. Best of Luck. Chuck

Give that Landscape maintenance company a good scare. They might have been spraying something that they needed a hazardous material license to apply. If they created a danger while applying it they could lose the license and be out of business.

Kenny, I feel for ya. The problem is you probably go to church with your neighbor and really don't want to get in a spitting contest with him. Send the lawn care people a bill and maybe at least they will think twice next time.
Good Luck

Ken you might try to maybe feed the plants with some extra nitrogen. It might get the plants to put out some extra growth and maybe survive the 2-4-d. You don,t have anything to lose. If you feed them to much it will just burn them. They are dead either way. Give it a try.... Greg

Thanks for everyones help. I've been watering heavy on advise from Rocky R. who had the same problem. I hope it works. Even though the rose got hit the hardest, it seems to be a stronger plant. At first I thought I had a fungus, it was help from the local nursery that lead me to the problem. They, the nusery, said to keep fertilizing with diluted doses of fertilizer and to water to try to flush it out of the systems. Yes, they've heard from me and are going to hear more from me(lawn care service). As for my neighbors, it's not thier fault, they entrusted a service. I hope they can survive this. I still have my mutated 845 bobier in a different area, not much of a plant but it's something.
Thanks all,....Kenny Blair

Hope your plants all pull out of it Ken. There's so many things that can go wrong naturally. A guy shouldn't also have to worry about manmade problems...especially from a professional lawn care service. Let us know how they come out.

Kenny: The only advice I can suggest is to water the hell out of it, may hold plant back some but better than a lost season. Hey man, if you don't come up with a definate answer
quick, try it. Only my two cent's worth, I had a problem two
years ago,4000 gal later, it corrected it self. When your backs against the wall, anything is worth a try. It worked for me as the record shows. Bill Van
