There are what appear to be flower buds at nearly every leaf joint on my 2 plants. The vine is about 4 foot long and the first secondary is shooting up at about 18" long. My question is should I be pinching off some of these buds or will it not make a difference in growth if I leave them all on the vine?

I was adviced not to cut off male flowers before you have done all your pollination. The only thing I will do is to preserve 2 or 3 males in the fridge as "emergency backups".

you do not prune off any flowers until u are satisfied with a set pumpkin . You will need these flowers to pollinate with unless u use flowers from another plant. On the secondaries you can prune off the little vines that start to grow off of these , if you are using the christmas tree patturn
