My plant has been vining for 5 to 6 days, it grows about 4 to 5 inches a day. I hoped it would grow faster, do they take a little bit to get up to speed or should it grow fast right away? One more Q, is it normal for the ends of a new vine to burn easily, even with misters? My new vines seem to be getting singed, dark brown on the edges of new leaves(very small 1 to 4 inch leaves.)I mist and can partially shade the main, but how do I stop this from happening on my secondary vines? Maybe my plant is not good or maybe it's normal. Thanks for the help., Jim

Say Jim....five inches a day is good! That's three feet a week. I've had growth of four feet a week in optimum weather. Singed edges are not good! They will slow down growth as the plant is under stress. I'm sure you can get a 30X30 tent from San Diego Tent and Awning.......or then again, you could move to the Pacific Northwest!<grin>
We haven't seen much of the sun in over a week!

Place a cheapy plastic/resin chair over the vine tip with a sandbag on the chair....advance it with the growth of the vine. It will protect the vine tips during the hottest part of the day.Ive used cinder blocks and 2x12's also...if the side vines are like most of my plants have been then one 2x12 x 12 feet will--if properly placed on two blocks and over the tips----pretty much cover all the vine tips on one side of the plant for a while.....be creative.....G
