Lower 90s here Jeff. Have some wilt on the 455 and 625.4 but the 421 isn't even phased. I have been misting though and that helps a lot. Good luck!

It's in the low 60's today and will be for a couple days. A day or two in the 80's would be nice.

Sunny and warm in the mid 70's daytime, 60's at night with a nice breeze from th ocean, Should remain the same for the week. But if they are right about EL Nino there will be many days in the high 80's to 90's coming.

It's hot as an oven outside, there is a high ozone and smog warning, the news people are telling everyone to not go outside if they don't need to, and i'm not leaving my house.
I'm just going to sit inside and enjoy some lemonade while I tend to my bonsai trees.
I have no pumpkin plants to take care of because animals keep on eating them.
It makes me miss New England.

There was an issue last year when i asked about heat tollerance. A few ppl argued that there wasn't no such thing as heat tollerance, and that it had to do with the root system of the plant, and the amount of water it was getting and/or some stuff like... anyway i am here to tell u... that i believe 100% that heat tollerance is a factor. It is about 95 degrees outside right now... and I have 5 pumpkins in one of my patches.. all are getting full sunlight (ouch)all have the same soil, i treat every one of them the exact same, I water, fertilze, and hoe up around them all at the same time, and all equal amounts. All of the plants are in simular stages of growth between 3-5 true leaves. Out of those 5 pumpkins, if u walk into my garden now, 3 of them are wilted, but two aren't effected by the heat.

wilted: 534.8 Andrews, 636 Saylor, 218 Andrews(only slightly)

turgid and healthy: 455 Andrews, 600 Desrosiers, 143 Glover (i included this one two but it is in a later stage of growth.. about 7 or 8 leaves however since it is in a different stage of growth i didn't include it in my statement above)

Nappy how long have you been growing bonsai tree's. I've been at it for quite awhile now. My wife laughs when she mentions me growing small trees and big pumpkins.

Only 5 years.
All attempts were unsuccessful until last fall when I found the magnolia tree i'm growing right now. I've had my best experiences with magnolias and maples.

I have been growing bonsais for a few years. I had a pine tree growing for a year but it died because I left it out in the heat too long. I now have a juniper that I started a few weeks ago. P.S It got up to about 96 degrees today.

Justin isn't the Saylor son of the derossiers 600? we will have to ask Bruiser if he had the same last year with the 600 if it was heat tolerant! Bryan!!! what gives I got a saylor growing too only we've been cold? chuck

Chuck, i believe that he had good luck with the 600 being pretty heat tolerant (why i wanted it).. I was hoping that the 636 would hold up good under the heat as well, but so far it hasn't maybe it will grow out of it...:)///oh and the 455 Andrews grew more today in the heat than it has in the last few with the slightly cooler 80's temps. (I hope it keeps it up:)

It was 101 on Saturday and 99 on Sunday here.Today it made it up to 78 but with a nice slow 1.5 inchs of rain all day. SWEET...And yes my plants were starting to wilt but i quickly turned on my misting system and they sprung back up like a dreaded weed.

I gave up 100 of my 410# Gadberry seeds to this site, they produced my 644 last year. The plant was small 500 sq ft, and never wilted once even at 103 degrees, and I didn't have a misting system over it although I did over head water in the hottest part of the day. There are still a few on the site seed section. The vines were intense green, with fairly small leaves, while the fruit was vivid orange.

Hey sorry for the late reply. The new baby is keeping me up at night & giving me much quiet time at the computer. :) To answer the question about the 636 Saylor, yes it was from a selfed 600 Desrosiers. That does not necessarily mean that it will have the same tolerance as the 600, and after reading some of the posts it appears that it may not. I did not have much luck with the 636 this year. I started several seedlings and many seemed stunted; one did look good, but the 600 Desrosiers looked better so it got the slot. My 600 Desrosiers have been doing well in 90 degree temps so far this year, as have my two 1062 Rivard plants.
