Yooo Crap, Is the split lenghtways or across the stem? If its lenghtways then all will be fine as it will heal..but if its across the stem then the channels that feed the plant will be severed and the end is nigh.

Yoo Ken, I predict that all will be fine...had it happen many times before...plant always comes back. Good luck.

Had my 644 Gadberry flop over right at the ground 3 weeks ago in high wind. Stem split lengthwise - ruined my morning so bad that I went home and worked on the problem rather than throw in the towel. Made small batch of fungicide and applied to wound(s). Then, I used "pruning spray" - stuff that orchardists use for covering pruning/damage/grafting. Looks like a light tar. After letting it dry (.5 hr) covered it with soil to keep that area from overheating in direct sun light (it's black and might possibly absorb heat. All is well and growing strong.

I just use twist ties to close the splits until they heal then remove the twist ties.
