My plant is 18 days old and very strong. My first 3 leaves are bigger than I can remember last year. This is my second year growing. My 2nd and 3rd leaves are kind of angled a little down and they are pretty big. No wilting, just angled down. Their tips touch the ground and the very end of both leaves have very slight leaf burn from the touching the dirt even though it's moist. It's between 70 and 85 most days here. Is this normal? Can I do anything? A little help will be greatly appreciated, thanks, Jim

the first few leaves will tend to do this...once the plant starts vining, which i suspect should be shortly, the leaf stems will grow longer on all the new growth. the first few leaves will die probably before you pollinate. i wouldnt worry about it.

I've also noted that changes in ground chemistry (fertilizing or natural substances in the ground) can have an effect on newer leaves. Look at too much nitrogen = leaves show it w/dark/blue green and wilt. Look at salt in the water = burning at the tips. I watch carefully what the leaves tell me is going on under the soil. I agree with the earlier reply, the first few true leaves don't overly concern me, leaves during early vining are worth watching.
