80 degrees the last two days. Its supposed to rain this next week but we havn't had any significant rain in months so I'll believe it when I see it. Still freezing most every night. Other then the drought its been a typical spring lots of wind and freezing nights.

The next few nights here are supposed to dip down to 29 degrees, with a high of 50! It was snowing this morning! I'm afraid to venture out and look under the hoophouses!

We have hit our "normal" high temperature of 68° only once this month. We are usually 4-5° below average. However, the hoop houses are getting very warm in the daytime....whenever the sun decides to shine!

I had to make a last minute rescue at about 2:30 this morning as it was already frost on my truck. Drove the 5 miles from here and covered my plants with the surrounding dirt to save them. Burried them. They are just starting 1st true leaf.Uncovered this morning, uglier for shore but alive. Will do the same tonight.. I have no electricity in patch not much choice. Will be a good freeze tonight. Goodluck to all this BAD SPRNG.....

It's been a terrible spring. I got my pumpkins in early this year, with some protection, but we've had wind, hail, snow, rain and cold. Last night was in the 30's and tonight is supposed to be in the 30's. I hear 70's by Thursday. Maybe the pumpkins will actually start to grow.

Record lows here, 26 with a hard frost. The wall of waters in the hoophouses had ice in the tubes. Pumpkin growing is off by a month.

I dont know if this will help anyone having problems with frost, but we had an extreme frost hit our area a few nights ago. We dont have electricity or heat available near our patch. While it was snowing I was boiling water and filling gallon jugs with covers. I placed a cardboard box or plastic totes over the plant(the boxes were large enough that the plant would not touch the sides but small enough so that the hot water jugs could heat up the area) I put the box over the plant and the water jug next to the plant(but not touching)under the box. Then I closed the hoophouses down on all sides so that no wind could get in or rain and snow. I waited until about 8:30 the next morning to take the covers off so that the sun had a little time to warm the huts up. YEAH!!!!!!! They survived! You know they may have even grown a little. I sure hope it gets warmer around here soon. I hope this may help some of you who also have no means to heat your patch.
