A tendril on my main vine is holding it up off the ground and not allowing the main to come down so I can bury it. I'm 99% sure I need to cut it off to allow the main to come down. Not a problem?

Dig a shallow trench under the main vine and a little deeper where the tendril is. That should lower it.

Napa, I saw your picture, the weight of the vine will push the tendril down flat in a short time. Before you cut it consider that the tendril will help stabilize the plant in winds. My 2 cents, Wes

Thanks Wes and john q for the replies. I'll see how it goes next couple of days. Already trenched 4 ft. under main. Hopefully your advice about the trench and my idea to trench and bury this year will help. Go healthy pumpkins!
