Hi PI:
Sounds like your not having too much luck getting started. You might want to consider trying to find a book called(How to grow world class giant pumpkins)By Don Langiven. Its the Pumpkin growers bible!
Even if you don't grow a megga pumpkin the first year(most first timers are very happy with a 1 or 2 hundred lb pumpkin)I know i was.It will give you all the pointers and advice you need to get started.Best of luck.

Idiot, not to worry, even if you get them in the ground after it warms up a bit (at least here in upstate NY), you still have time to grow a great halloween pumpkin in the neighborhood of a few hundred pounds. Don't give up now.

The PI said,
"i try the advcance seed method twice, it screwed me up...."

Now that explains it!! Some of us were wondering what happened to you.

Watching the seed sprout, watching (and intervening if required) as the tiny cotys split the seed coat and emerge. Watching the first leaf develop, monitoring the enviroment, caring for the seedling. Setting up the patch, the Ironite's, and Nitrates, 10-20-whatevers and Ph and wet dirt and tilling. need huts too. build huts, set em up. Dig the pits. Set the plants out. Monitor and adjust environment... open the hut, close it, turn on the heat (and swear cuz ya need to leave it on all day most days). The season is two-three weeks old.

Yea, I'm bored too.

:)

blkcloud, That is some Sage advice Bro. You must have teenagers, or are you just remembering how you kept "entertained" as a youth.....

JohnNancy, I also tried the advanced method a few times (removing the protective covering)and just, well wound up with teenagers....

Never in a million years would I have thought of growing pumpkins when I was a late teenager. To busy drinking beer ,chasing Girls, playing ball ect. That thats one thing a kid his age doesn't want to think about advantced seed starting lol

i was growing ag's when i was 16. (only started the real giants 4 years ago) i wish i would have weighed the early ones, they were probably 150-250#. back then, it was 2 ag plants, and a whole variety of other veggies. now it's a garden twice the size, and only one row of potatoes, all the rest is pumpkins.

Hey Pumpkin Idiot just enjoy your first year .Iwas all hyped up last year, ready to plant in January about to bust by May . I live in upstate S.C. and mine matured early July and I was bored with it by then also. You have til mid June down here to start your plants and still get several hundred pounds out of it and have it for halloween or the fairs.

Mark,
Who said you can't chase girls, drink beer, and grow AG's at the same time?

Tom when I chased girls and drank beer and played football Thats all I did pluss worked. After work one would shower go to the bars or clubs party until 2:00 am get up for work
and it all started over the next day maybe resting 2or 3 nights a week. during football season work practice sleep maybe drink a few beers after a game. no time for ag's. Unless you are superman I really don't think you could give both life stlyes the justice they deserve. lol

I'm working on it. So far I've got the AG's, chasing girls, and playing football down.
