I really need advice. Last year was my firsr year and it was a disaster. all of my plants died when I put them outside. This year all 8 are doing well. I planted them out last week. alothough I think my patch might be a bit small. I dont know what to do about the rapidily growing vines that are sprouting little roots. Do I cover the vines with soil. I would think that this wiuld damage the vines. Could someone let me know about this. And also how many baby pumpkins do I keep per plant. I have alot of flowers already. What if they dont get pollenated properly. I really need to hear from someone who knows what they are doing. I think I am the only person in Scotland to have these great pumpkin plants and I dont want to mess it up. Thank Ellen [email protected]

Hello ella, Some growers do cover the vines (as I do). This helps promote the growth of the tap root at the bottom of each leaf junction along the vine. It also helps hold the vines down preventing wind damage. I would keep no more than one pumpkin per major vine. But don't go removing any fruit until you have some double the size of a soccer ball. If you are worried about pollination then do it yourself. See the How To section for step by step instructions.

Hey Ella, There is also a wealthof information stored in the old posts. Go through the old posts of last year you would be surprised at how much info and specifics are in there. Questions that are on your mind ar probably already answered right there. chuck
