What is the average time for a seedling to grow roots big enough in a gallon pot? My seedling was in a clear gallon jug and the same day it came up, it had already put a main root 3 inches along the bottom. I had to transplant in 2 days because it had so many roots already. It amazed me. Does this mean a strong plant and big pumpkin or not matter?

These suckers grow so fast they will continue to amaze. Wait till it starts putting down a foot or more of vine a day. It's alot of work to stay ahead of them. I got lazy last year and my plant became a hopeless tangle in no time at all.
