Subject: advanced seed starting method

tried a couple seeds using advanced seed starting method. leaves start to open before any root starts..is this the norm ? placed both seeds in starter soil tonite to see what happens. Anyone have any input ? greatly appreciated ! Duff

from my experience, yes the leaves opening first is normal. good luck

I just tried it two days ago. The leave opened first. The next day a root had formed and was almost half an inch long.

as the seed leaves become imbibed with water (good thing) they will expand, making it look like they are growing. You know the leaves are for sure growing when they start to turn green. Wait to transfer the seed until you see the root tip growing. Just because the seed leaves open up doesnt mean the root tip will go. Ive even had the seed leaves turn green with no root tip growth, then it dies quickly.
