I filed 6 seeds last night at about 8.00 pm. They are 914,723,707,980,681,494.5.I just checked (24 hrs!) and the 980 Kuhn,707 toftness 914 wentzell all have 1/4 inch root sprouts.I don,t think i,ve seen such quick germination sence i,ve started growing AG's.makes me glad i went out after work today and picked up peat pots and starter soil.Any others out there with quick starters,if so what seed or seeds?.......Happy growing :~)

Jury is still out on the "coatless germination" methode. I had one that just came up within (3 Days) a 1230 Daletas!!! Don't know if it or the "others" will make it into the two "Full season" patches.

About 38 hours for me on the 980 Kuhn 01....This was for a 1 inch tap root. The 922.5 Emmons has been the fastest for me in 23 hours!! Then comes the 811 Kuhn 01 at 30 hours.....This is for one inch tap roots!! All were started using the advanst see method. Chris

I alway's heard that slow and easy does it all the time. What is the reason for wanting to have the seeds germinate FAST. WATER = John

Water: slow and easy is the way it should be,at least thats what i think!Last spring i had bad luck germinating took forever, had to remove casings, just all togather real slow.Didnt think i was going to get to grow what i had planned on.So when i looked after 24hrs and had 50% germination and by the way 100%today when i arrived home it just kinda made my day......quick and painless.John

John, I checked my 611 Hester, it has rootgrowth after under 24 hours. I filed, soaked in 15-30-15 and placed in a 6" peat pot on its side. I placed the pot in a large container on top of a heating pad on hogh with a light on it 24/7. I filled the container with 1" of water. The air temp. has been around 80 degrees, and the soil is pretty warm and has been continuously moist. Water, The reason for getting them up so fast is so they are not exposed to the moisture in the soil for to long, which would cause them to rot. Tom

Farmer Tom==== When we start our seeds the fast way and them plant them in the ground are not the plants exposed to moisture in the soil? Water

Water, they are exposed to the moisture that way, but the leaves aren't. It's when the leaves get wet that's the problem. Tom

I know this is off topic but I was looking at a post from last year and John G said he would be happy to hit 500lbs. How did 1100 feel! Just struck me funny.

I would think also that the faster the tap root kicks in, the better the vigor of the plant! Chris
