How long is it usually from when a female flower blooms to when it's pollinated?

Also At the tip of my main vien, there are some brown leaves and flower buds? Is this some kind of disease?

As soon as you dip your wick in the male flower and then dip it in the female flower. Then sit back, have a smoke, and let the growing comence!

Flowers open up at about daylight & pollination should occur by early to mid morning.

I agree with Gordon. Brown tips might be heat damage. If so more water might help, & some people shade the growing tips in hot weather.
