I think the "ambition level factor" should be added to the list of (What is needed to grow a giant pumpkin (or squash)?

I agree Pappy. I remember a older Joel Holland video that I saw and the weigh off announcer asked Kirk Mombert what his secret was to growing a big one. His answer was "has anyone mentioned hard work." I think a lot of people think that these seeds are magic and that is all that you need to grow a giant. The majority of the seeds out there probabaly have the genetic potential locked in them to pop a big one if given the proper attention but with no effort even the hottest of seeds won't do much.
