Ken's right, BIG and orange, that's why I like it. There are some grey ones from it, the 1167 and 1053, the 947 Welty was mottled slightly with green, and there was a Shymanski fruit from the 846 that had a wide variety of colors. Other than those 4, BIG and orange, like the 1020 Papaez. Tom

Farmer tom, I wish you would not post things that you know nothing about. I helped lift Mr. Handys 1167 to the scale and there was nothing mottled or green about it. Just huge and orange.

How does pale orange = green mottled FT? You cant call a little green at the canteloping green unless it is severe. Tom Beachy

Sorry, from the pics I saw that's what they looked like. Different pics look like different pumpkins. look at the pic of the 1260 Weir on my website at angelfire.com/freak/pumpkins, it looks a bit squashy. Tom

Hey Gads Tom's original post says the 947 Welty was mottled with green. He said the 1167 was grey. LOL Ok he was still wrong but he didn't say it was mottled with green.

I agree with Farmer Tom. The 1260 Weir would not have been accepted as a Pumpkin at the Weigh-off site I go to. The picture that was sent out with seeds and posted on this site was taken of its one good area. The GPC rules specify that a PUMPKIN must be 75% creme, yellow or orange. I would have said the 1260 was clearly a SQUASH according to the rules.

If the 1260 was a squash, then you would have a long way to go to beat it for a world record! I hope the offspring do as well as momma did!!!

Len, I think the rule should change so it has to be 75% blue, green, or grey to be squash. But that's a whole nother story. If there is anyone here who thinks the 1260.4 was a pumpkin visit y web site at angelfire.com/freak/pumpkin to see what should be the world reocrd squash. Tom

Farmer Tom: I would like to see the rule become "A SQUASH must be 100% blue, green or grey". Everything else is a PUMPKIN.

Len, That sounds like a great rule. It seems that the color rules are the hot topic this year. What are you growing for squash this year? Tom

F-Tom, What was the color of other 845 Bobier pumpkins? I recieved a letter, and a seed with a picture of Craigs 1260 (look in my diary). In the letter Mr Weir says "My pumpkin was not as bad looking as people who have not seen it, seem to describe it". I plan on growing its offspring, and to the best of my ability. I just hope I can surpass your (Farmer Tom) personal best of 30#. I think if you would shut your noise hole, and try listining instead of "parrotting" master growers, and acting like their ideas are your own, and trivializing their results, then maybe, just maybe you would gain more respect in this community.

Farmer Tom: If I grow 2 Squash this year as origioally planned, they will be a 771 and 512 which were my 2 squash last year. At this point it is still very very dry here and I may not grow any Giant fruit, or maybe just a Bobier 723. My pond has not come up much from last years all time low point. Our well is not good enough to water from and I'm not going to haul in water. I'm adding a Breezeway and Garage to the house I built 3 years ago, so will have enough to do without hauling in water.
