1120 Sq feet. If that was all the room I had I'd probably do two, but that is marginal size for two plants. I've got more room so I have 3 plants in 4000 sq feet.

I have come to the conclusion that any more then 500 sq feet is a waste of space and effort. There has been quite a few giants grown in 500sq feet or less. 1260.4 , 1167, 1064,1140, 1092, 1058, 1020papez just to name a few. It is even beleived that 500 sq feet may be to much space. There is even a flag style plant pattern which uses about 250sq feet which has produced at least 2 800lbers wich I know of. So I would go with at least 2 if not 3. Best of luck this year Mark.

The 1260.4 was grown in a 720 square foot patch (not 500 square feet)

Yo Toady, Two plants will more than fill that space...even with a good prune.

Yo Yo Toady, Bottom line....the size of your plants will depend on the condition of your soil, your seed genetics and the care that you give... ie. fertilizing and watering. Joel Holland had one plant fill up 2500 sq. ft!!!! I've seen a "starved runt" only manage to fill 50 sq.ft.!! Remember, we're talking about a plant where each leaf can cover nearly 4 sq.ft.!!

Hey Toady, If you want, look under my diary I have a diagram of how im going to place two plants in (almost)exactly the same space as you have. I am still a newer grower, but this plan was mostly created for me by an experienced grower, Andy Wolf. I thank him so much for what I think is the PERFECT plan for this size of patch. Good luck to you, Mike

Hey Mark P I'm really cramped for space is there anywhere I can look at that flag pattern. I've been fretting about this all winter what shape will get the most out of the space I have.

Alexsdad, The flag pattern is like the x-mas tree pattern, except only one side of the main vine is allowed to produce 2ndaries. Tom

Thanks Mark...That is what I'll do...it will work great for one plant in the spot I have...I'll also let some of the vines grow up the fence for extra leaf coverage but that pattern should allow me to service the plant. Thanks again chuck
