Hallo growers. I´m since 1998 a pumpkin grower and it`s each year the same. The vine of some of my promising pumpkins rot right next to the fruit, when he weights 120 + pounds. Is it stem stress, too or what is it? What can I do??? Thanks for answer, Dietmar, Germany.

It could be many different reasons. Are the pumpkin shoulders on the vine? This could crush the vine and expose it to pests or fungus. Too much water on surface near where it rots?
Try posting some pictures on this site and that would help a grat deal...Tom

Re.: vine rots right next to the fruit. Hi Tom, I`m sorry but I don`t have any pictures of vine rot. First there was a little hole in the vine right next to the fruit. Then the vine gets more and more fibrous. How can I prevent?? Excuse me, that I report me so late, but I have many problems with my PC. Many greetings from Garbsen, Dietmar.
