I read the article on this site on systemic pesticide and regular pesticide. It said that regular won't kill the SVB because adult SVB's don't eat. Will it kill them if you spray it directly on them? Will it at least keep the svb's off the plant if it is sprayed on?
Could someone please explain the nuances of pesticide use?
Also which ones work and which ones don't? Where can I buy the ones that work?

I don't know of a pesticide that will keep Squash vine borers off the plant. Sevin and some other pesticides will kill the little borer as it hatches if its on the vine where it starts to eat. The eggs are frequently layed on the bottom side of the vines where it is hard to get good spray coverage. Sevin can be obtained at WalMart, Home Depot, Lowes and most Garden stores..........Admire is a restricted systemic insecticide that can be used if you have a permit to buy and use it. It doesn't kill the adults but does a good job with the borers.
