I used an umbrella, it essential if your pumpkin is to break 30 pounds. lol. I would think a 6x6 tarp would work well because that is the size of the styrofoam pads that most growers out under their pumpkins. Tom

4 x 4 is good for pumpkins to 400 lbs, 5 x 5 is god for pumpkins to 800 lbs, and 6 x 6 will go for a "lot" Tom Beachy
