How important is it to grow the main vine from North to South? Last year I planted from North to South and this year I will be planting on the south end of the garden for rotation reasons. The plant will be grown in a christmas tree shape.

Thanks Tim

My personal backyard best grew from South to north. My second best grew from east to west, my third best from south to north and my fourth best from north to south...I dont think it matters too much personally.........G

I'm just waiting for someone here to suggest "magnetic therapy" is what our pumpkins need! I can just see it now....folks taping magnets to the vines!

I have heard of a giant tomato grower who uses copper rods to harness electric energy and nothing but "ant dung" to grow the big ones! Huff, this wasn't you, was it?

No I haven't used the copper rods, but I've also heard they are effective on tomatoes. I'll just stick to what worked for me. By the way Kilr do you know who makes lifting tarps for tomatoes...LOL.....Paul

I am experimenting with paramagnetic rock powders. they are supposed to really increase the nutrient uptake of plants.
I found that when transplanting onion seedlings into paramagnetic soil that the root wouldnt go straight in the hole it would be pulled to one side or the other by magnetism. When I transplanted seedlings into untreated soil the root would go straight in no problem. The treaded onions are 2 inches taller than the untreated ones.

Huff,

Just stick a piece of 1/2" steel pipe through your tomatoes! Then 2 people can easily carry even your tomatoes to the weigh-off. Just thought I'd help a fellow competitor!

Gads,
The Paramagnetic Rock Powders sounds like a great name for a new music act! Sweet!
