I was wondering how I can obtain or order various types of insecticides for growing giant pumpkins. I am interested in more info about the insecticide called "Admire". I would like to possibly try it this 2002 growing season. Please give me info on pesticides and fungicides that would be recommended for the Ohio area (central Ohio) and how I can obtain them -where to order, prices, or any other pertinent info. Your help would be greatly appreciated. I am new to bigpumpkins.com - Biff B.

Hey Biff, Good to see one of my local boys on the site. For a fungicide I've always used Daconil with good results. You can get it through Walmart very easily. As far as pesticides I always apply grubex in the spring & spray ISOTEX weekly, ( also Walmart) It does work , you just have to make sure that you cover the top & bottoms of the leaves. And after a rain always reapply. Admire does work well, but it is harder to obtain & the products above will work if you stay on top of your spraying....... Paul Huffer Class of 83....Circleville

Dang, you Ohio boys must have Godzilla size bugs and, HIV + types of fungi over there! I just spray a little Daconil once in a while and call it good. I hope you wash your hands proper after delousing your patches.

If I had the cooler summers like you boys in the Pacific Northwest ( and I am jealous ) I wouldn't have that problem. But I don't so you "adapt & overcome, Clint Eastwood, Heartbreak Ridge" A true classic that applies to the defense against the dreaded cuke beetle & SVB, the known enemy of giant pumpkin & squash growers everywhere........
