I've got a large barrel(35gl.) I catch rain water in. I tried my first a ttempt at a brew. I don't have a microscope but I figured a half as* brew would be better than no brew?! I started it two days ago. It's a mild brew (I think) some fresh horse poo, and some worm castings. It has a beautifull tea color to it!!! Is it any good? and how long can I water of it if I keep the air going to it? BSD, David

i wouldent put fresh horse castings in. Castings, kelp, fish or molasses would be a basic recipe. depending on your airpump and brew temperature anywhere from 24 to 36 hours. the tea changes over time, depending on oxygen levels and available food. color is irrelevant. you want a sweet earthy smell.

The fresh horse manure will have pathogens in it which you would not want to put on your plants(especially things you plan to eat).Well composed manure should be fine.

These would be good starting points for you.

Good luck!

I brew 18-24h then spray all of it immediately. Less than that, the microbes haven't had a chance to grow in population yet. Longer than that, they run out of food and start dying. I guess it depends on how much food you have available to them.

I would never use horse crap. It has pathogens in it and can cause some nasty things to happen. Get a can o worms composter and 2000 red wiggler worms and then start making your own fresh earth worm castings and then start up the brewer. I use earthworm castinga neptunes harvest and mollasis. it works awesome.
