Just finished turning over my redesigned patch and getting excited watching some of those excellent diaries from the northern hemisphere,
Even getting the urge to plant a seed today.
Cheers

I live in Victoria and normaly start my seeds mid september to plant out into my patch early October. But my patch is still very wet due to the floods earlier in the year. I just can't wait to start growing them, hopefully the patch will dry out soon.
Cheers

Starting my patch prep in Sept. Can't wait. Need some warm spring days. Lots of plans afoot to beat my personal best,(also the 1190 NZ record from last season). Well I can dream. All the best for all Southern growers. Have fun, thats whats it's all about.

This is my first time growing giants. Preparing my patch and trying to work out when to plant. I was thinking early November. When are others planting?

DARKY (Steve) Check out the competition at RD1. Decent local prizes. $200 RD1 Gift Card. Also NZ wide a $1000 Prezzy card. They have free seeds at the local shops with details. It is judged by weights. Although I went on their sights and could not find details as to the rules. Seems to be pretty open. Let me know if hear anything.

Spoke to our RD1 farm supply rep and yep pretty much open contest will be weighed all over the country on same day. Seeds are free but it dont say nothing about having to grow their seed.

It's strange RD1 doesn't have anything on their site, was talking to their Category Development Manager, who said the whole thing had a huge response, also they were now doing a staff only competition as well.
