I was wondering if anyone has used this bagged cow manure compost product before. It seems very well broken down but I'm having second thoughts about using it this close to planting time which is about a month away for me. I plan to spread it about 1 1/2 inch thick on the cover crop the day I till it under.
To be safe do you think I should just stay away from the planting sites and spread it elsewhere to give it more time?

Bagged compost/manure seems like a gimmick to me, but I used a product last year called "wholly cow." They were sold in 40lbs bags and I incorporated 6 bags at each planting site in a 6-8ft radius. The consistency and texture was about the same as peat moss, it worked great to loosen the soil and add organic matter. It never negatively effected the plant.

Hank, it looks like a great product but will be a bit pricey in the bags.

If it were available in bulk (and if you are near the processing plant) I'd be using this stuff in a heart beat.

I get a similar product from Walmart made by Earthgrow. I wait until it goes on clearance in late summer and get it for less than half price. I sometimes buy 40 or more bags at a time and apply it in the fall. Pumpkins and other plant seem to like it.

I dont care what color the cow is,I will use there poop.

The bag stuff is usually so broken down its just real good soil or humus.Thats better then trucking in real fresh mnure thats not broken down.If your spending more then 100$ on this you might get a better deal using compost from a compost farm. You could get a truckload for the same money.

I tilled in 8 bags at one back to back planting site last week. I bought 6 more bags on the way home yesterday and put them on my other site. Thanks for the link. It is good looking stuff but is $5.99/bag. I am trying some of Holland's spring wake up this year so I tilled that in with it.
I will certainly be checking for deals this fall and load the patch up too.
