Hello all

This is my first post. I have grown dill pumpkins here in Halifax for two seasons. My first go was on a whim and I started late and ended up with an 81pounder. This year again started late ...the boss decided to let me grow late may. I managed 194 this year.

I have some great seeds coming for next year and have been doing some work in the patch and need some advice.

I removed a 15x15 patch of sod and put down compost (from wood), a layer of composted cow manure and today a layer of fresh from the beach seaweed. All but the seaweed on top is well tilled. Should I till the seaweed in or leave it on top? I have read in quite a few spots you can getaway with fresh seaweed as opposed to broken down.

I was going to do a soil test but just grab from the compost, dirt, manure and leave the seaweed out to get an idea of where I am at...thoughts?

Any other preps before winter? I have some winter rye but it is chilly here and I think I missed the boat for weather. Should I sow some seeds hoping it will sprout in the spring or save it for next year?

Any advice would be appreciated,

Haligourdian
