Head over to the gpc website for the summer edition of the newsletter! We don't email them out anymore, but simply post them on the website. Missed an issue? All of the back issues are there! -Cindy

Hi Cindy, I was reading the article about using reed canary grass as a mulch in the summer newsletter. My question is: does the grass have to be dry or can the grass be used freshly cut down as a mulch and how thick of a layer of grass?

I used it dried and baked. I put down flakes of hay that peeled off the bales, about 4 inches thick, then fluffed them a bit to spread them out more.

I have access to a field of reed canary grass just north from where my garden is. Does the grass have to be dried out to be used or can it be still green? Would this cause any problems?
